Frequently asked questions
At Hummelshain, our hunts are conducted following ethical and sustainable practices. While we do utilize vehicles for transportation and spotting across the vast terrain of the farm, all actual hunting is done on foot. Once an animal is spotted, the hunt continues with a careful and ethical stalk, allowing for a true fair-chase hunting experience that honors the spirit of the sport and the respect for the wildlife.
The hunting experiences at Hummelshain primarily take place on our expansive farm, which is rich with native species such as Kudu, Eland, Oryx, Black Gnu, and Blue Wildebeest, offering hunters a diverse range of game in their natural habitat. For those seeking to hunt species not found on our farm, like Rhone, Sable, and Springbok, we collaborate with neighboring farms. This ensures a sustainable variety of hunting opportunities while maintaining the integrity and quality of the hunt. Each location is carefully chosen to provide the best possible experience in line with ethical hunting practices.
Hunters are welcome to bring their own rifles, preferably of .30-06 caliber or larger, to ensure an ethical hunt. Alternatively, rifles can be provided by Walter, who has a selection suitable for various species and hunting scenarios. This flexibility ensures that all hunters, regardless of whether they bring their own equipment or not, are well-equipped for the hunt at Hummelshain.
Before your arrival at Hummelshain, the most important thing is to coordinate with Katharina. She will assist you with all the necessary preparations, including your pickup from the airport and transit to the farm. It’s recommended to ensure you have all personal essentials for your stay, and any specific hunting gear you may prefer to bring along.
For a hunting trip to Hummelshain, it’s important to pack both for comfort and the practicalities of hunting. Here’s a suggested packing list to get you started:

Regarding visa requirements for traveling to Namibia, the necessity of a visa depends on your nationality. Visitors from several countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, and many EU nations, do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
However, travelers from other countries might need to apply for a visa in advance or can obtain a visa upon arrival for tourist purposes at select entry points like Hosea Kutako International Airport and Walvis Bay International Airport.
It’s important to have a passport valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry into Namibia, with at least three blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
A return ticket is also required.
For the most up-to-date information and to confirm whether you need a visa based on your specific nationality, it’s recommended to check with the nearest Namibian embassy or the official Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security website.
In addition to the visa, it’s advisable for travelers to have a foreign travel insurance. This insurance can provide coverage for various unforeseen circumstances during international travel, such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other potential issues that could arise while abroad.
Conservation is at the heart of everything we do at Hummelshain. We practice sustainable hunting, which includes careful management of wildlife populations and habitats. Our hunting activities are conducted in a way that supports the natural ecosystem and contributes to the conservation of species.
While we encourage our guests to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and disconnect from digital distractions, we understand the need for connectivity. Wi-Fi is available in specific areas of the farm, ensuring you can stay connected when necessary. Mobile network coverage is generally good, but it may vary depending on your location on the farm and data plan.
At Hummelshain, we prioritize the integrity and quality of each hunt. Therefore, we do not offer pre-packaged hunting deals. Every hunting experience is uniquely tailored to the individual hunter, ensuring ethical and sustainable practices are always upheld. Our focus is on selective hunting, targeting only mature and old animals. This means each hunt is planned based on the natural presence and readiness of suitable game, rather than predetermined package elements. We work closely with each visitor to understand their preferences and create a personalized hunting plan that aligns with our commitment to conservation and ethical hunting principles.
